What is total triage? Every medical and admin request to the practice will now come through as an online accurx message. Everything comes into the practice in one way, so it is easy to understand, and triage based on clinical need. This might mean that for some patients who are unable to use accurx they will phone in. A receptionist will then complete the online form with them so that the request still comes into the practice as an accurx message. All accurx messages will be triaged and actioned by a clinician.

- Language Barriers
- Learning Disabilities
- Severe Mental Health
- Elderly
- No access to the internet
Why are we changing to Total Triage? NHS England (NHSE), acknowledge the increasing demand for appointments and our limited capacity to meet this demand. We understand how frustrating it can be for patients to wait in telephone queues or queues at the front door at 8 am to get an appointment. In order to address increasing demand for appointments and reduce frustration for our patients, we are changing our appointment system to Total Triage (also known as Patient Triage).
